Lactobacillus Acidophilus
Yeast Infection Prevention Regimens
The second most common
type of vaginal infection experienced by women in this day and
age is the yeast infection. For this reason, women the
world over constantly are seeking effective methods through
which they can prevent yeast infections and through which they
can resolve a yeast infection when one occurs. One
regimen that has proven helpful is the Lactobacillus
acidophilus yeast infection prevention regimen. At the heart of
the Lactobacillus acidophilus yeast infection yeast prevention
regimen is a “friendly bacteria” that is said to be an integral
part of the “normal vaginal flora,” a natural and important
part of the vaginal system.
Lactobacillus acidophilus, as a so-called
friendly bacteria, maintain the vaginal system in an
appropriate state by preventing the overgrowth of unfriendly
bacteria and Candida yeast that do exist in the vagina.
Lactobacillus acidophilus produces lactic acid which in turn
functions rather like a natural antibiotic in controlling the
growth of “bad bacteria” and yeast in the vagina. In many
instances, enhancing the presence of Lactobacillus acidophilus
in the vagina appears to have significantly beneficial effects
when it comes to preventing yeast infections.
Although Lactobacillus acidophilus naturally develops in a
vagina, many women have taken to supplementing the amount of
this friendly bacteria that naturally occurs in the vagina
through a Lactobacillus acidophilus yeast infection prevention
program. Towards this end, Lactobacillus acidophilus can
be ingested orally in the form of capsules or powder.
Moreover, in recent time, more and more yogurt products have
been introduced onto the market that do contain active
Lactobacillus acidophilus cultures.
There are also Lactobacillus acidophilus products on the market
that can be administered vaginally as well. These
products have been demonstrably successful in reducing the
incidence of yeast infections in women as well. Because of the
other health benefits associated with yogurt, many women in
recent times have started to turn to consuming yogurt that does
have active Lactobacillus acidophilus cultures. There is
now some useful research data available in regard to eating
yogurt with active Lactobacillus acidophilus cultures as part
of a Lactobacillus acidophilus yeast infection prevention
regimen. These studies indicate that women who ate eight
ounces of yogurt with live Lactobacillus acidophilus cultures
on a daily basis had a remarkable three-fold decrease in the
incidence of yeast infections. In other words, this
particular Lactobacillus acidophilus yeast infection prevention
regimen is proving to be very effective for many women.
There have also been some studies involving the use of
Lactobacillus acidophilus suppositories to both prevent and
resolve yeast infections. This course appears to reduce
the risk of contracting a yeast infection by half, even amongst
women who are HIV positive and more prone to yeast infections
overall.
A rather new Lactobacillus acidophilus yeast infection related
products involves douching with yogurt with active
Lactobacillus acidophilus cultures when they find themselves
actually suffering from a yeast infection. These women
maintain that they are experiencing relief from their symptoms
by using this specialized douche when afflicted with a yeast
infection.
