Yeast Infection Medical
Treatments
Yeast infections can be
medically treated with a wide range of options. Some
options that a doctor would prescribe a patient with this
infection would be lotions, creams, vaginal suppositories and
pills. Treatments come in many different forms, but are
often used orally through an antibiotic of some sort.
The most common used drug to treat yeast
infections is in the antifungal family. Drugs like, azole,
nystatin and amphotercin are good medications used to treat the
infection. These medications do their job by forming holes
in the yeast wall to kill the bacteria.
If not treated properly the infection can
come back or never fully go away. That is why proper
treatment is so important and needs to be applied as
prescribed. Most yeast infections can be clear within 2
weeks. The women that are prone to diseases in general
have a hard time getting the infection to die. These women
normally have a low immune system and the infection tends to
come back.
There are vaginal and oral
treatments. Monistat vaginal therapy treatment is an over
the counter treatment that is inserted in the vagina. It
can alleviate the pain you are experiencing.
If you get a vaginal yeast
infection often (such as once a month or 3 times in 6
months) you should talk to your doctor. Even if the
treatment seems to be working, continue to use it for the
full time. Anti-fungal medications are used to treat
and cure yeast infections. Some of the following are
anti-fungal treatments, which include Butoconazole,
Nizoral, Diflucan, Monista, Terazol, Gyne-Lotrimi,
Clotrimazole also known as Mycelex-7, Nystatint, Sporanox,
Vagistat, Yeast No More, Tioconazole and
Vitaklenz.
Oral treatments can only be prescribed by a
doctor. Relieve most symptoms rapidly. This treatment
can take up to 24 hours before feeling complete
relief.
These treatments can be used 1 to 2 times a
day for up to 7 days and can help the symptoms within 3 to 4
days. Before using any of these treatments consult your
doctor, so he/she can advise you the best treatment to use for
you.
If you are nursing a baby or a female under
the age of 12 or pregnant or have never had a yeast infection
before, it is imperative that you see a doctor before taking
any medication. All medications should be kept away from
children and are only for vaginal use. Please do not
insert in the mouth or eyes.
Consult your doctor immediately if you
experience symptoms such as, fever, very foul smell in
discharge, shoulder pain, back pain and lower abdomen pain
after taking these medications.
